Archie Griffin
President/CEO, The Ohio State University Alumni Association, Inc.; and the NCAA’s Only Two-Time Heisman Trophy Winner.
A native of Columbus, Archie played football and graduated from Eastmoor High School. As a member of the College National Football Foundation Hall of Fame, Rose Bowl Hall of Fame, The Ohio State University Sports Hall of Fame, and the Columbus Public Schools Hall of Fame, Archie has won virtually all the top honors a single athlete could win in college football. He is the only two-time Heisman Trophy recipient (1974 and 1975). Archie holds the NCAA record for running 100 yards (or more) in 33 regular-season games and in 31 consecutive games (bowl games were excluded at the time), as well as for having the most average yards per carry of 6.13. He also ranks fifth among all ball carriers rushing for 5,177 yards.
Probably even more noteworthy, during his entire four year career at O.S.U., Archie was known to be a model student-athlete and received his B.S. Degree in 1976. He has the added distinction of being the first athlete in Ohio State history to have his number retired. In 1976, Archie was a first-round draft choice of the Cincinnati Bengals, served as co-captain and played with that franchise for eight years. In April of 1994, he was named associate director of athletics at Ohio State, overseeing 17 sports. On January 1, 2004, he became President and CEO of The Ohio State University Alumni Association. Archie and his wife, Bonita, and family reside in Westerville, Ohio.

Richard Wells
Past President, Big Ten Club. Sadly, Dick passed away unexpectedly on October 9, 2005, from pneumonia and other complications shortly after returning from chairing his fraternity’s (Phi Epsilon Pi) reunion in Columbus.
He grew up and attended high school in Williamson, West Virginia. In 1956 he received his B.S. Degree in Pharmacy from Ohio State. In 1977 he founded and was president of Prescription Health Services, a California firm providing managed-care pharmacy services and promoting generic drugs to reduce client costs. As an alumnus, Dick served his university on various committees and advisory boards, including the National Major Gift Committee, Presidents Club and the Alumni Association (including the O.S.U. Alumni Club of Los Angeles). Dick and his wife, Karol, also established several endowed scholarship funds and the awards from his alma mater are voluminous.
With the Big Ten Club, he likewise served in many capacities including the Golf Committee, Board of Directors, Executive Committee and was President in 1998. Up until his untimely death, he chaired the Membership Roster Committee and maintained the data base for all financial and tax reports. He is greatly missed by us all. We are pleased to dedicate this tribute to him to his wife, Karol, their three daughters: Marla Eby, Caryn Dates and Julie Sobel, and their seven grandchildren.
